Reasons to consider it
- Cheap, globally distributed VPS instances from $2.50–6/mo with hourly billing — 32 data centre regions
- GPU rental prices are printed on the page, which many clouds hide behind sales calls
- Good fit for dev boxes, small apps and geo-distributed testing
Reasons to look elsewhere
- Trustpilot is alarming: 1.6 from 581 reviews — sudden account suspensions with data locked inside is the recurring horror story
- Billing complaints are common: charges after cancellation and promo credits with unadvertised restrictions
- Production workloads need a backup strategy outside Vultr from day one
What the review scores say
Vultr holds 4.3 out of 5 on G2 from 286 reviews, and 1.6 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 581 reviews.
The split here is severe: 4.3 on G2 from 286 reviews against 1.6 on Trustpilot from 581. The Trustpilot pattern — abrupt account suspensions, data inaccessible, billing disputes — is consistent enough to plan around: keep off-platform backups and do not make it the only home of anything critical.
What we cannot tell you
How Vultr feels after a month of real use. Whether support actually answers when something breaks. Whether the workflow fits your specific case. Those need an account and real use, and we have not done that. Anyone publishing those answers without doing the work is guessing, and you deserve to know which is which.
We have not compared this against rivals yet
Vultr is the first product we have documented in email marketing. A single product is not a comparison, so there is no category page for it yet — we will build one once we have read the pricing pages of its main competitors and can put them side by side on the same facts.
